Bath salts add a real spa feeling to your bath time soak, and also provide health benefits. The salts add minerals like magnesium, calcium, sodium, and potassium to the water that help detoxify your body. Salts have exfoliating properties that remove dead skin cells and increase circulation. They also give a sense of buoyancy that is relaxing to the mind and body. The baking soda softens your skin, and the oil moisturizes. The essential oils add the fragrance and possess therapeutic properties, depending on the ones selected.
Here is an easy recipe for making your own bath salts:
- 3 cups Epsom salt, Dead Sea salt, or regular sea salt (or a blend of 2-3 types)
- 1 cup baking soda
- 15-24 drops essential oil (can blend your own combinations as you like)
- Tbsp. light olive oil or coconut oil.
Blend well and store in tightly covered container. To use, add about 1/3 cup to bath.
